Client Testimonials

Sam & Steph, Dillon, CO
Brian, Karen & Peggy, There has been so much that we have wanted to thank you for that words cannot easily express. The kindness you have shown us has been overwhelming. Words cannot convey our gratitude in making our dream come true. We want to thank you for being an amazing Team. The experience was beyond our expectations, and our home is so much more than we ever expected.

Lynn & Doug Dahl
Doug and I wanted to express our thoughts to you regarding our experience in December when we were in Breckenridge during the log raising of our home. It was truly beyond our expectation as we watched for 3 days during the building of our home with the beautiful Western Red Cedar logs from Pioneer! We are thrilled with the craftsmanship of the logs as each log has its own unique character. Joel and his crew did an outstanding job of hand crafting the logs so that the finished product is absolutely beautiful. The “character” logs he chose are so perfect and the famed “root ball” is truly a work of art! We were truly in awe when we saw it and thank all of you for such an awesome surprise.

Andre, you sent your best crew from Pioneer to work with Brian’s team in assembling our home. Carsten and Evan were absolutely fantastic! Their knowledge and skill was evident during every moment of the building process as their focus never wavered from the task at hand despite the snow & cold temperatures. We were so appreciative of them and will always remember their dedication to the “Dahl House.”

Cory from the trucking company was the hero of the day as he skillfully backed the trucks down to our building site despite the snow and the steep slope of the road. Hopefully you will let his manager know that he did an excellent job and was such a cheerful and competent part of the team.

Andre, your communication during the building process was an integral part of the very positive experience we have had with Pioneer. We know that there are many behind the scenes people who helped us realize our dream of a Pioneer Log Home. Please thank them for us and let them know that their expertise and hard work on our home is so very appreciated by us.

We would be remiss if we didn’t mention “Donna” whose creativity and absolute commitment to incorporating our needs provided the design for our home. She provided the vision to help make our Pioneer Log Home become a reality for us. She is an amazing asset to the Pioneer Family!

Thank you for your gift of the “Pioneer Log Bench.” It is so gorgeous! We will find exactly the right place for it and it will be a continual reminder of all of our friends at Pioneer and their dedication to building the “Finest Log Homes On Earth.”

It has been a little over a year since Mountain Log Homes of Colorado (MLH) completed the building of my family home in Breckenridge. I did not intend to wait a year to write this commendation, but the delay affords me the opportunity to observe the quality of the work with over a full year of weather and settling. It is the quality of the building that is most impressive about MLH. From the soundness of the structure to the fine finishes within we are very pleased with how our home was built.

Moreover, the people of MLH produced our quality home with professionalism, care and understanding. They have many positive attributes and some are that Brian listens remarkably well and says they can make it happen; Peggy does a great job keeping the accountants, bankers and tax advisors happy; Karen’s input was beneficial and enjoyable; and Ralph’s craftsmanship was stunning. Their many subcontractors and suppliers follow suit. It has been a pleasure to know and work with each of them.

For years we envisioned what our log home might look like inside and out. The Mountain Log Home team made our vision a reality. Being in Chicago during construction could have been a problem, because there are so many decisions to be made on a daily basis - but Peggy and Brian led us through each decision with ease. We were very proud to "show off" Mountain Log Home's expertise at the 2007 Parade of Homes, where we won the Realtors Choice award, among others. The whole process from start to finish was a great experience because of the MLHOC team. We would not hesitate to do it all over again!

Wow!! I am so impressed. Buck and Jean's home turned out so beautiful. Techne’ Architecture designed an attractive home, but the photos make it better than I ever imagined. I am so impressed with the finishing detail, Mountain Log Homes did a fantastic job. I hope The Tippins are thrilled with their home.

Mountains … river … log home! We have a dream home in a dream location! We’ve always loved mountains and log homes, and after finding this lot on the Blue River, we contacted Rocky Mountain Log Homes who put us in touch with their local contractor, Mountain Log Homes of Colorado. The combined talents of Brian Higgins (architect) and Brian Wray (contractor) produced a beautiful, livable and comfortable home that is just right for us. The quality of the workmanship allows the log home and the location on the Blue River to complement each other. The house has numerous special features, including: two fireplaces with hand carved mantels– a hand carved entrance door – log stairs leading to the second floor -- multiple decks and patios for outdoor living – a comfortable traffic pattern – excellent storage space from cabinets, walk-in pantry and closets to the contractor’s innovative use of under eaves space for additional storage – granite countertops – large master bath with jetted tub and steam shower – moss rock inside and out that enhances the beauty of the logs and timbers. And all this comes with a Built-Green certification.

Mountain Log Homes showed true craft and professionalism with the construction of the Highlands Residence.  They are a real team player and a pleasure to work with.  I believe the owner benefited most as they now have a unique Colorado home with fine detail and superb finish.

Tom & Peggy Briggs, Breckenridge, CO
Mountain Log Homes built us a beautiful log home here in The Highlands at Breckenridge. Their commitment to quality construction is exceptional, and has provoked many compliments from our family and friends. While our very creative architect gave them some difficult challenges, they met them all and created a very unique looking log home. If we are ever crazy enough to build another log home we'll gladly use them again.

Colin & Irene Balmforth, Parker, CO.
The team at Mountain Log Homes created a unique and fantastic home which receives endless compliments from people who visit. We spent considerable time researching everything from log selection to design & construction to interior finish. As fastidious as we are, Mountain Log Homes worked with us throughout the whole process and the end result is a home of beauty. If you are looking for the very best in quality and construction in the Summit County area we can highly recommend them.

"We wanted an open design, not the typical mountain home. I sketched everything out and was referred to Brian Wray by Rocky Mountain Log Homes. We chose Mountain Log Homes because we had seen another home they had built. Brian sent my sketches to Rocky. They sent us more formal plans that showed basically what we had done. We made more changes, and then they sent us the engineered plans. When asked what they would do differently if they did it again “Probably nothing. It’s a dream house.”

Joe & Gene Swedish, Silverthorne, CO.
We're pleased to recommend Mountain Log Homes. They provided assistance when we modified a RMLH 'Walnut Canyon' Plan to meet our personal needs. Brian met the challenges of our steep mountain lot. He recommended a full wrap-around porch, and the addition of a garage and game room to our walkout lower level. Peggy gave us peace of mind with the material selections & budgets. Mtn Log Homes not only built us a beautiful log home, but managed the entire development of our property including the driveway and utilities. We wouldn't change a thing! I cannot imagine finding a more expert team that understands the construction delivery process and communicates in a way that keeps everyone on the same page.

A Note of Appreciation for Mountain Log Homes

A Note of Appreciation for Mountain Log Homes
The combination of Rocky Mountain Log Homes, the log package company out of Hamilton, Montana, and Mountain Log Homes, the local log company representative and the building contractor operating in Frisco, Colorado, combined to create our wonderful home atop Bellyache Ridge in Wolcott, Colorado.

After years of researching, we selected Rocky Mountain Log Homes because of their style of log construction, one that would allow us to avoid chinking for the most part (a look that we just didn’t want in our home) and yet provide a high level of sealing and insulation from the cold outdoors to the warm interior. We also really liked the fact that a great many of their logs came from previously downed wood, such as from the Yellowstone forest fires and from the Mount St. Helen’s volcano areas, and – regardless of their source – were very dry to begin with and so experienced little shrinkage after the home was built. They took plans that we had previously drawn up ourselves, suggested modifications, and then took my drawings and converted them into the architectural drawings required for the structural integrity of the design. They delivered a log and window package to our building site that was top-notch quality.

Mountain Log Homes arranged for all of the sub-contractors that worked on the house. Many of these came out of Summit and Lake Counties, even though our house was being built in the middle of Eagle County. Not to disparage the Eagle County companies involved, but the best quality work was done by the sub-contractors previously known by Brian Wray, the principal figure in the small Mountain Log Homes staff. From the onset, the job was not an easy one. Our lot turned out to be mostly rock under the thin layer of trees and topsoil, and the excavation turned out to be a much larger task than anticipated. To add to the troubles, we had to start the work in the middle of winter (January 2004) because of delays created by our initial home construction/permanent mortgage lending institution, and thanks to Brian and his staff, we were directed toward another loan broker who found us a mortgage company that had good rates and was easy to work with.

Ours is a large home, over 6200 square feet, including the garage, with many specialized rooms, including an exercise room, a wine cellar, a sun room, a craft studio, an office/library, a full butler’s pantry, and three complete bedroom suites. The specialty sub-contractors arranged for by Mountain Log Homes included the excavation work (which included the foundation, septic tank and septic leach field, and – because of all the rock blasted from the foundation footprint – plenty of rock wall landscaping along the driveway and what would later become our back outdoor patio), the log assembly, the carpentry (framing the upper floor and all the interior finishes), the roofing, the stone work (extensive moss rock exterior and interior details), the tile work, the in-floor radiant heating and mechanical room work, the handcrafted Norwegian wood flooring work, and the plumbing and electrical work.

Despite starting work in the worst of the winter months and had to endure construction – and its attending snow removal tasks – over two winter seasons, from the first blasting until the receipt of the Certificate of Occupancy, the entire homebuilding project took only 14 months, and was totally ready for our occupation in March of 2005.

Probably like every other pair of homeowners who was watching their personal design take shape during construction, we had our concerns that the prime contractor was really doing his job and was on top of the project, and wondered whether we had gotten a “devil” of a contractor. These concerns were almost entirely wiped out when we were able to move in and experience first hand that the final product was exactly what we had anticipated, and that the quality of the construction was exceptional. In the following years, as we became acquainted with other people in the Eagle River (Vail) Valley who had built, or were in the process of building, their homes from the ground up, and heard their stories of having one problem after another, we became more and more convinced that Brian Wray and the folks at Mountain Log Homes were the absolute “saints” of the contracting business. In the final analysis, we are so happy that we selected Mountain Log Homes as our builder. We would, and have, recommend them to everyone with whom we’ve discussed homebuilding.

Thanks Brian, Peggy, Karen, and Tim.
Sincerely, Fred and Yvonne Rupp,
Happy owners of a Mountain Paradise in Wolcott, Colorado
